About 4thWAVE

From Individuality
to Potential.

個性を、可能性へ。

Individuality is not an obstacle to systematise away. It is the source of what a company can still become.

Our stance

The cruise industry shares a common operational structure — voyage data, cabin reservations, B2B sales, and purchase and settlement processing. How that work is actually run, however, differs from company to company.

What is shared, we support with a core system. What differs from company to company, we build into the system without eroding its individuality. 4thWAVE reads both and gives them a single form.

Tourism, we believe, connects the world in peace. Underneath it lies patient work — voyages, bookings, settlement — done differently at every company. We bring specialist knowledge to bear with a wide view: we support the shared structure as a core system, and give form to the differences rather than removing them. From individuality to potential. That is the work of 4thWAVE.

Biography

Born in Hokkaido. Studied in Australia for a year as a Rotary International exchange student, then returned to Japan and graduated in economics.

After working in foreign exchange at the Tokyo head office of a city bank, experience in retail deepened his interest in computer systems planning. At a transport company he was responsible for computer training covering more than ten thousand employees, work recognised with the President’s Award.

He then joined a subsidiary of a listed company, launching new businesses and working hands-on in system development. He also took part in designing systems that supported the operation of the revised Corporate Reorganisation Act, providing IT support for reorganisation proceedings — at first in a personal capacity, later through the company he founded.

Building on what he learned across finance, operations, education, legal frameworks and system development, he became independent in 2002.

Track record

The industry changes; what we face does not.

We go to where the work happens and read the wisdom that the people there have built up but never put into words — then give it form as a system that does not lose the individuality within it.
